Waterford to Cork, Cóbh and on to Killarney

The Great Southern Hotel, Killarney Town Centre.

Your private tour train, the Emerald Pullman, will depart Waterford on Monday morning, after a full Irish breakfast, and travel the little used but very scenic rail route through the Suir Valley passing through Carrick on Suir, Clonmel, and Cahir before reaching Limerick Junction, where we turn south along the main line to Cork.

At Mallow we pause to allow our guests to take an optional side trip by coach to the iconic Blarney Castle and its stunning gardens. There is plenty of time here for lunch. Our train continues through Cork city and on across Cork Harbour to the picturesque port of Cóbh, arriving at 13:05pm, where we can explore the surroundings, relax for a couple of hours with a cup of tea or coffee, or indeed have lunch.

We depart this attractive port town at 15:15pm (our guests who had opted for Blarney having re-joined us by coach) and travel by EPX to Killarney where we arrive at 17:00pm – and walk out of the station and into the adjacent Great Southern Hotel.

Evening free in Killarney.

We will travel in our coach back to our hotel in Killarney for our second night.

Otherwise, our guests are free to enjoy the many and varied attractions that Killarney has to offer.

Again, your evening is free to explore Killarney.

Killarney to Galway

The Galmont Hotel, Galway City Centre.

On Wednesday, after having our full Irish breakfast, we walk across to our exclusive Pullman style train and set off at 09:00am to Galway via Mallow, Limerick junction, Limerick Colbert Station, and Ennis, where we will have a coach waiting for those who would like to visit the Cliffs of Moher and the village of Doolin for a lunch stop at the famous Gus O’Connor’s pub. For those taking this option you will return directly by coach along the shores of Galway Bay to our hotel in Galway.

Those who do not take this option will have over two hours (from 11:50am – 14:05pm) to explore the delights of Ennis and have their lunch. Our private train then continues north along the Western Rail Corridor to Athenry, before heading west into Galway Ceannt Station – in the heart of the city. On arrival at 15:50pm, we simply walk off the platform, through a door, and we are at the reception desk of our hotel – the Hardiman Hotel. (We love the fact that this lovely four-star hotel has a railway station en suite!)
